Vacation Packages - Caribbean
Adventure (10 days):
Day 1 Upon arrival at Juan
Santamaría International airport, our driver will meet and transfer you
to Colonial Hotel in San José, a restored neocolonial building nearly a
century old, located in the National Civic Center, one of the safest places in
San José, close to tourist attractions. Overnight at Colonial
Hotel.
Day 2 You'll depart San José early in the
morning, heading towards the Caribbean and crossing the amazing Braulio
Carrillo National Park. You will arrive at our Operations Center in time for
breakfast, clothing changes or last minute needs. Once ready you will be taken
to our private putt-in in San Martin, your friendly and professional guides
will load your gear into dry bags, prepare the equipment and give you complete
safety and paddle instruction. The first day's Class III rapids welcome you to
the Pacuare gorge's charm as you raft deep in the heart of primary rainforest.
While your guides prepare you a hearty picnic lunch on the riverbank, you'll be
led through the jungle to an enchanting waterfall and pool to swim. Before you
know it, you'll arrive at the award-winning Lodge where you can spend the
afternoon relaxing, hiking or soaking in our waterfall and pools. Enjoy our
Canopy at no additional cost! Nestled in the jungle on our 1,000-acre private
reserve, the lodge offers you all the comforts you need in "Cabecar Indian"
style bungalows. Private single and double rooms are spacious with clean linen,
and there are modern bathrooms and showers. Electricity is generated by a
self-sufficient hydro-plant. Happy Hour will put you in the mood for a tropical
evening, followed by a luscious candlelight dinner with wine served by your
guides.
Day 3 Don't worry about wake-up time. The beauty of
the light through the forest, the sound of toucans and the smell of coffee will
get you going. This day is designed to enjoy the lodge surroundings. You can
choose a variety of hikes - a 4-5 hour hike high into the Pacuare Reserve; a
2-3 hour hike to nearby waterfalls and pools, or short walks near the lodge -
or just relax in a hammock and enjoy nature. Experience a side of the Pacuare
few people know! (Note: For the 2 Day Trip, simply omit Day 2. You will not
spend the extra day at the Lodge.)
Day 4 After a hearty
breakfast and loading the rafts, you'll prepare to paddle down the Pacuare
gorge past gushing waterfalls, serene pools and pounding rapids. A snack stop
by the riverside lets you explore more waterfalls and natural waterslides. An
adrenaline-packed afternoon running rapids like Upper and Lower Huacas,
Cimarron, Dos Montañas and many more, will have you cheering
ecstatically. Hot lunch will be served at our New Ríos Tropicales
Operations Center. Showers, changing rooms, cold and hot drinks and snacks are
also available. Drive to Puerto Viejo on the South Caribbean. Overnight Almonds
and Corals Hotel.
Day 5 Experience watching the jungle from
the top of the trees in The Crazy Monkey Canopy Ride cable system
of the platforms and ride amongst the forest till you get your feet on the
golden sand beach!! Here is where the jungle meets the ocean.
This is a
great place for magnificent views from the tree tops while you are on the
platforms and also walking in our bridges in some of the tracks. This is an
opportunity to see the jungle from another perspective and surely you will have
the chance to watch some wildlife from above and your guide can tell you about
the different species that might appear, but even more amazing it will be to
see the Natura Park with a Bri-Bri Indian Village from above where an aborigine
family lives in a very traditional way with the typical thatch buildings. A
snack at Almonds and Corals Lodge is included. Enjoy the surroundings of
Almonds and Corals Lodge, its forests, its fauna, its beach. Back to hotel at
1:00 p.m. Overnight Almonds and Corals Hotel.
Day 6 After
breakfast, you will have free time to enjoy the area and beautiful beaches of
Puerto Viejo.
Day 7 Advendure continues with kayak paddle....
Breakfast and we will travel on the van through Banana Plantations until
reaching the starting point in Guapiles, in the boundary of the National Park
on the Tortuguero River where the fun starts.
Lunch will be served in
the River bank along the way in the middle of the Parks Tropical Forest. You
will continue to meander in this lush forest with amazing flora and fauna. Late
afternoon arrival to Mawamba Lodge.
Day 8 Breakfast and
paddle will take you to an exploration of a lifetime in Samay Laguna. Here you
will board the kayaks for a 3 to 4 hours exploration of the area. The magical
entrance to Laguna Nueve and a brief visit to the beach will be some of the
day's highlights. Wonderful clean waters and total solitude will be part of the
experience. Lunch is served on site and return to Mawamba Lodge for
overnight.
